What's Our Mission ?
| |
| We are a people called by God to be the Church of Jesus Christ in our place and time. Our mission--as persons, as families, as parishes, and as the Abundant Life Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF)--is to respond to God's call with personal commitment and communal action. God calls us to proclaim the life-giving and hope-giving good news of the Gospel. Our mission is to proclaim the truth of Christ by what we say and by what we do. God calls us to serve the world, that is, all our brothers and sisters whom God loves and for whom Christ died. Our mission is to reflect upon our Judeo-Christian heritage, to discern the most pressing needs of society, and to utilize our resources in order to meet them. We are called to respect the dignity of every person and to hold all institutions, both secular and religious, accountable for justice. We are called to heal the wounds which divide people, to work for liberation from oppression, and to cooperate with all people of good will, especially other Christians and Jews. God calls us to live a life of community in the Holy Spirit. Our mission is to build a community based on forgiveness of one another, caring for each other, bearing one another's burdens, personal prayer, and sacramental worship. Individuals are called to a wide variety of ministries which build up the body of Christ. |
